Depressing? Delusional sounds more like it… Throwing even more badly trained troops, if (re)trained at all after calling up the reserves, at by then battle hardened Ukranians???
Wasn't the Russian population shrinking fast enough on its own :-)

Anatoly Corchikov, Mládshiy serzhánt, 15th Motor Rifle Brigade, outside Kharkiv.

To do list:
1. Stay alive.
2. Shoot at Ukrainians as ordered, tho not very well. It might make them mad.
3. Frag Chechens wherever possible.
4. Don't eat anything cooked by the locals.
5. Shoot flares over the Chechens wherever possible.
6. Misobey any really stupid orders.
7. Don't tell the Chechens where the mines are.
8. What the Kapitan doesn't know won't hurt him.
9. When the Starshinas say it's time, gather up your crap and start for home, QUIETLY.
10. Don't tell the Chechens.

More Russian mistakes! Them seem to think time is on there side. They don't have the know how or parts for most of there high Tech systems. Sanctions will get worse as Europe finds alternates for natural gas. Pushing the west even further away when there young population wants to become more Western.

Putin is truly old school communist!!!

Regrettably, the only salient difference between Putin and Xi is that Xi is 6 inches taller.

I would also hope that by summer the sanctions would start to have a powerful impact on Russia.

I reckon P will just declare victory anyway on Victory Day, then gaslight Russians like hell.

If it lasts that long into Summer, NATO may be involved with troops on the ground. Very possible.

From what I understand, Russia is currently in technical default of its' debt/bond payment obligations, but it is in a grace period. On May 4, if it hasn't come into compliance, the boom drops.

I'm sure Putin has some sort of dodge planned, but with summer coming Europe will be more able to wean itself from the Russian fuel stream and Putin will start to run out of rabbits in his hat.

So lots of prophecy in that article. A summer offensive, never heard of that before. Politicians and the media working hand-hand to harden citizens to dance to their tune, yep that's a new one. Without knowing the Russian supply situation or the mindset of current/future ground pounders it seems pretty difficult to determine their willingness to continue regardless of what Putin says.
