The Fighter scrum was an interesting game. A fair amount of tension in the game. See photos and captions for the AAR. The Cannoli destroyed the sensor station, at the cost of their ace pilot (ship exploded). Fun game, or should I say it was a sweet game (pun intended).

Next game May 21st, noon, at Saga Games in Frederick, Maryland. RSVP if you'd like to play.

The game rules having the working title of "Exploding Spaceships." They are currently in playtest, but use the same system mechanics as presented in So Convenient for Hewing – more below.

Figure 3 – The Éclair fighters

Figure 4 – Fighter firing arc – 12" long, 1" wide at base tampering to 3" wide

Figure 5 – Cannoli fighters at-start; black sphere indicate unspotted ships (or dummies)

Figure 6 – Éclair fighters move out to intercept

Figure 7 – The two groups approach. The Éclair forces moving at higher speed, this turns out to be a critical blunder

Figure 8 – The Éclair attack went foobar, when the first two action cards drawn the next turn were the "End-of-Turn" cards.

Figure 9 – Pass through, the two forces have passed each other, now the Cannoli fighters have a window to attack the sensor station

Figure 10 – … and attack they do, the Cannoli attack the sensor station

Figure 11 – a Why class strike fighter making an attack run

Figure 12 – an Axe interceptor class strike fighter making an attack run

Figure 13 – Éclair fighters turn around

Figure 14 – the Cannoli swarm the sensor station; beams of coherent energy driving home the attack, rending the structure of the sensor station.

Figure 15 – the Éclair fighters get back into the fight

Figure 16 – the sensor station destroyed the Cannoli fighters scatter.

… and that was the game. Two rule changes for this playtest:

1) The restricted firing arc for fighters, and

2) Adding a +1 to hit for stationary ships/targets.

Update for May. The game will be a return to Dark Age games, a playtest for one of my games at Historicon in July.
