Hi, I have gotten locked onto now the challenge to make my own 6mm scale Napoleonic armies, and while doing infantry is not so hard to conceive, cavalry has been harder for to rest upon a lthe best design These are some of my rough concepts so far, some Baden Hussars and french chasseurs I would be interested to know if others think any of these ideas would be best
I am inclined to making these three designs:

I think you're onto something with the blocks, myself. Plan B would be the flat top-down view. The others look too finicky without being robust. But I think you'll find doing all three arms the same way will give you the most satisfactory result. |

Thanks for your I put Robert, you have been quite helpful to me on these forums. Yes those attempts to make more elaborate paper 6mm cavalry has been finicky, though I feel inclined to make three levels of complexity and perhaps one can do as they please ( as I might make them available on wargame vault for a pittance when I am finished perhaps, maybe 5dollars per army provided I can get the look right) I will try to make as comprehensive the range of forces I can. One of my motivations is also the old PC game Wargamer: Napoleon 1813 – It is in my view the greatest Napoleonic PC game ever but sadly was plagued with bugs. Now I think one could recreate that game with Et sans Resultat ruleset and I want to make paper minis based on it somewhat too |

Yes, I think Robert has it – the blocks are pretty nice. Easier to construct, and probably will take average handling on a table. Keep us updated, please – I'll probably make some purchases when you're ready to start selling them. |

thanks for your words Whitestreak that is good to hear that you also like the blocks approach for the cavalry as well as trying to come up with a suitable cavalry 6mm paper concept, i am working on the infantry also – the idea i have been drawn to is the 3 rank block but with the ridged top as i think that makes the 3 ranks more discernable the other idea is just the more basic one of the flatter single rows or i could just do the basic blocks like with the cavalry. Folding the top of the ridged blocks is not actually too difficult to do i have found, once folded the angles form naturally once the back and sides are glued together and then just a tiny spot of glue on either side of the middle ridge fixes it in place link link link link link link link link link |
