I have painted up several of the mounted Roman generals and based them with my dismounted command figures. They turned out well. These are really nice figures.

They look great! Would you mind sharing the basing material you use on these and your cavalry which looks like a mossy grass or grass cover (not the tufts but the grass)? Much more realistic to me than static grass…

I use a base of vinyl spackling then add small pebbles for texture. After it dries thoroughly, I use a diluted mixture of burnt umber. Again, after drying, I dry brush with autumn brown, and then finally with trail tan. Finally, I add Scenic Effects blended turf for the grass effect. Hope that helps.
