I have painted up several of the mounted Roman generals and based them with my dismounted command figures. They turned out well. These are really nice figures. link |

They look great! Would you mind sharing the basing material you use on these and your cavalry which looks like a mossy grass or grass cover (not the tufts but the grass)? Much more realistic to me than static grass… |

I use a base of vinyl spackling then add small pebbles for texture. After it dries thoroughly, I use a diluted mixture of burnt umber. Again, after drying, I dry brush with autumn brown, and then finally with trail tan. Finally, I add Scenic Effects blended turf for the grass effect. Hope that helps. |
