I received my copy of the new edition of Funny Little Wars this morning courtesy of the author and I have had a chance to flick through them over a cup of coffee.

They are a well produced, smaller than A4 paperback which is packed with colour photos of toy troops in action.

The rules are very well laid out, making a much more straightforward game to understand than the original rules which could jump around a little in their thinking…

The photos are inspirational and I am already thinking I need to assemble and paint my own copy of the armoured train I produced for Imperial Miniatures and get it rolling in the garden. Plus a couple of planes and a balloon wouldn't go amiss either!

Highly recommended on first read through – I'll do a more detailed commentary when I have had a chance to try the rules out under fire…

The rules are available here:

A quick update on work in progress.

Garden Campaigns – coming along and a completely new book. It is a developement of the Kriegspiel suggestions at the end of Little Wars, and it contiunes the 1913 theme of the recent reprint. Timeline – for Christmas 2022.

FLW 3 – the HG's 'Big War' or Pals edition. This takes FLW into the Big War and is in the testing stage. Tim is hosting a game tomorrow and I am providing some Chateau generalship. The Pals edition will be launched as a limited edition set of 50 – with some toy soldiers included and sone poppy seeds from Talbot House in Flanders fields. Timeline – for spring 2023.

FLW is also now available for sale at The Armoury, St James's and Tradition, Stockholm.
