Due to world political reasons my enthusiasm for painting miniatures almost died, this rediculous small amount of miniatures, were sitting about 6 weeks finished on my desk, just the colour had to be mounted and then the unit had to be based. Eventualy I got my act together and realized those final steps, here my second battalion of the Chasseurs, painted mainly with Contrast paints.

and here the two battalions side by side – one painted in traditional technique the other with Contrast paints

and the whole infantry of the German legion – I did not give my arquebusiers a colour, the colours are paint converted ancien regime colonel's white ones and pure fantasy there nobody knows how they looked like so I invented a pattern.

A pity that the legions cavalry is not available in miniatures and never will be.

Really nice. Contrast paints sure speed things up.

Let's see how that works

wow works great, in case of a right click you will get massivly enlarged immage so you can juge better the difference of the Contrast painted unit against the traditionally painted ones.

Nice job! Why won't the cavalry be made, did Sho Boki say that? That's a shame if he doesn't.

Absolute gems. Very striking and beautiful brush work on crisply sculpted miniatures.

I don't know nothing about legions cavalry, Abelp01.
May be von Winterfeldt says that he will never order sculpting of these.
I prepare dolls for my new cavalry and infantry sets right now and there still are space for one more doll for one more set in dolls mould.

About this big picture. I like the traditionally painted ones more there, they seems to be more smooth. For close photoshoot. On table there probably are no difference.

von Winterfeldt22 Apr 2022 1:37 p.m. PST

Yeah I agree traditionally painted ones look better – as for the table top – no big difference.

As for the cavalry of the legion, it would be insane just to sculpt for those very short lived units and where a lot of information is in the full dark.

If only troopers, without separate command for every unit, then not so insane.

Gut guess for the base figure would be standard chasseur uniform with the caracot and casques, painted the appropriate colors.

Great looking figures.

Or perhaps hussar in mirliton, with or without pelisse.

There is too much speculation especially about the "light curiassiers" – supposedly in different uniform and equipment as Boisselier at all suggest, realy too difficult to reconstruct and for that reason why wasting sculpting time on sheer fantasy – maybe the Piconniers are feasible, but otherwise ???

Valmy9225 Apr 2022 3:22 p.m. PST

There seems to be some consensus between that and the same uniform using Sabre in a couple of the other plates.
