Definitely not Triplanetary. I owned that at the same time. Demon's Run is very close but I do bit remember he board, or even if there was one. |

And I think it was by a lesser known company and if I remember right the box art showed two crew climbing into a docked racer that looks a lot like a BSG viper. |

But did some searching.
But as soon as you enter 1980s, Google assumes you mean a PC game. Finds that might be of interest. Space Racing Game

'Box' art doesn't match, but maybe the 1988 V.I.P.E.R.? Seems like there were a mess of pamphlet rulesets, but nothing else comes to mind. Doug Edit: I will say Demon's Run first came to mind; thanks for taking that hit for me, Daveshoe. ;->= |
