Hi,

I am looking to put some rivers on my gaming table – I am looking for a nice realistic, artistic, close to the mat river system. Any recommendations?

Thanks

I have Novus Design rivers, which I like. Back in the olden days, they were JR. They are a flexible plastic. Here's the link: novusdesign.net

I second that recommendation, very happy with rivers from Robert at Novus.

I have both the Novus 28mm and 15mm scaled rivers and like them both. They even had a connector that lets you use them together, but they need to add a junction that lets you model a 15mm "stream" flowing into a 28mm "river" at roughly right angles.

Battlefield Terrain Concepts does some great rivers. Doug
has a website and usually is a vendor at the major HMGS
cons. Great products and a great guy to deal with.

If you can get them the Gale Force Nine battlefield in a box rivers are pretty good.

I also use Novus Design Studio's – Excellent rivers and other terrain, highly recommended!

Novus, their entire line is spectacular.

I'd say the requirements are (1) flexible, (2) minimum two widths, and (3) a connecting piece so the narrower can flow into the wider. Buy more than you need, and buy at one time. Otherwise I'll guarantee you they'll either be a slightly different color or out of production altogether when you want to place the second order.

Thanks for the advice guys. Rob, good advice I shall follow.

These are some of the finest rivers in my opinion. There are two types of FlexRivers, deluxe and standard and the site has slide shows for each types. They are also packed in these great boxes that will protect them for years to come.

Again a vote for Novus. One thing though is the 6mm aren't the same width of the JR 6mm rivers. I'll double check it but I have both mfgs rivers.

Any idea how wide the 15mm Novus rivers are? They do look good.

1092-10" Straight Blue River 2ea

Dimension-1:
3" W x 10" L
Dimension-2:
Riverbed: 2 wide"

The 6mm I have are 2" for the new rivers but the old JR are 1.5" wide FYI.

Thanks for all the information – I think I am leaning toward Wargamers Terrain.

+1 for the rivers from Wargamers Terrain. I have both his standard and deluxe and both are nice, but the deluxe are really very nice. And Joe provides excellent customer service!

Regarding customer service….We will see. No reply to my email yet….

I can only speak from my experience -- he has been responsive to emails, maintains a status page on projects, and stood behind his product replacing a piece that had wrinkled.

BTW, from the times on your thread it looks like you were looking for a response in less than 12 hours… for smaller businesses, I am elated if I get a response within 24 hours.

LOL – good point custosarmorum – I spoke to Joe on the phone this afternoon. Very nice guy.

For my $0.02 USD, the absolute best ones are from Take Cover Scenics. Here is my review: fantasticlegions.com/post/custom-rivers-by-take-cover-scenics
