Hey everyone, wasn't sure where to turn with this, but hopefully you guys can help!

Has anyone had experience with the lovely Timecast rubbery flexible roads, rivers etc?

They do say it wont be able possible to completely protect the paint work due to their nature and offer some possible 'flexible' varnishes..

They also say they dont need priming… which I maybe didnt read before encountering issues.. Needless to say I dived right in, primed em all, upon gently picking them up, the paintwork instantly shattered..

Is there any reason to hope that normal emulsion paint wouldn't react in the same fashion? (as some blogs have seemed to suggest)

Maybe this was wishful thinking on my part… has anyone has ANY joy painting and varnishing the flexible rubber???
Perhaps people have based them on something more robust? Or maybe the flexible varnish does indeed do the trick? I'd ideally hope to paint them up, add flock and clump foliage if possible!

Anyones personal experiences would be very much appreciated!

All the best,

Bobbins

Funny enough, I have my first pieces part-painted at the moment. So far I have just just applied Vallejo acrylic straight on the latex – no primer, and I haven't tried to flock or varnish yet. The paint is perfectly flexible and bends with the piece, no cracking at all.

Can't help with how emulsion might react.

I painted mine with tube acrylics. No troubles so far.

I used craft acrylics on some of their fields a year or so ago and they are still OK.

Okay! Thanks for taking the time to let me know your successes…

It's spurned me on to get the dettol out, the paint scrubbed off and I've done some tests and sure enough Vallejo acrylic seems to hold just fine! Serves me right really!!

Has anyone had any joy with Vallejo water effects? I'm kinda hoping to go all out on those rivers..

Thanks again!
