You were asked – TMP link What RPGs Have You Played?(If you have played more than five, indicate the five you played the most.) And in the final round of voting: 13% said "Traveller" 11% said "AD&D 1st edition" 7% said "Basic D&D" 6% said "D&D 1st edition (white box)" 5% said "AD&D 2nd edition" |

All of the above and many more. |

Interesting result to see Traveller top the list vs. any edition of D&D. Hard to judge if a generic "all versions" D&D answer would in out, as people tend to have played multiple versions, which means you can't really add 'em up. |

All of the above and then some. |

At least to me, Traveller was one of those games that you really, really, wanted to like, but in the end it just fell flat. The need to create ships, worlds, etc., and the procedural format of the game play just never took off with my group. We tried several times to restart things, but every time we reverted back to D&D. |

Traveller was one of those games that you really, really, wanted to like, but in the end it just fell flat. Same in our group. Boot Hill, Metamorphosis Alpha and Shadowrun were the big hits in my gaming groups. |

I've died an unseemly number of times in Traveller character creation. I hadn't realized how many different ones I'd played til I saw this list. |

We had a good time with Traveller in the early 80s. Last week, I was looking over my Classic Traveller books and wondered if anyone here were still playing CT. The group I GM'd hung out in the Spinward Marches and "accidentally" started one of the Frontier Wars. Sigh. To be in my early-20's again… |

I suspect lumping all the D&D versions together would yield a different result. In chronological order we played D&D, Tunnels & Trolls, Traveller, Runequest, Call of Cthulhu and no doubt some others I can't remember now. At least one Star Trek rpg, but I can't recall the title. |

I missed the poll, but Traveller was my first RPG. D&D to me felt a bit silly, with all those levels and hit points and classes. But I've done my share of D&D over the years. I mean… I GET the "start as a weak thing and play to progress it" as a game staple. But I prefer "start competent and get on with it". Traveller remains a favourite, though I've played far more Champions, West End Star Wars and Pendragon. |

I liked Traveller immediately and have been involved with it one way or another since about 1979, including running many convention games, both the RPG and miniatures games. You can just not use most things that don't interest you. For example, if you really need statistics for ships or ground vehicles or whatever, someone has published something that will work. The poll structure isn't well suited to this type of poll, because it forces you to choose 5 out of an arbitrary list over and over. For some of those lists, you may have played none, and for others, you may have played 10. So we could get more accurate information with a different format. |

Traveller Original, Traveller Mongoose (1st and 2nd Ed), OD&D, Basic D&D, Expert D&D, AD&D1, 2, 3, 3.5, 4, 5, Pathfinder, Ars Magica, Vampire, Mechwarrior, Castles and Crusades, Dragon Warriors, Tunnels and Trolls, Sketch, Twilight 2000, TMNT, Robotech, Star Frontiers, Chill, Call of Cthulhu (various editions), Marvel Super Heroes, West End Star Wars, D20 Star Wars, Warhammer FRP 1st, 2nd, 4th editions, Star Trek FASA Edition, MERP, Dawn Patrol (hey, it was marketed as an RPG), Boothill, Gamma World, Little Fears, Top Secret. That's off the top of my head. There are others I know I am not remembering. Too many, really. |

Mostly D&D or AD&D but I remember my group experimenting with GURPs for a while and worse still the EMO hell that was Vampire the Masquerade. |
Grand Dragon | 12 Apr 2022 7:07 a.m. PST |
Runequest was my first RPG,but I've played lots – AD&D, Vampire the Masquerade, Vampire the Dark Ages, Werewolf the Apocalypse, Wraith the Oblivion, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulhu, WFRP, Golden Heroes, Judge Dredd, Pendragon and Traveller. |

Played and GM'd all the poll's top titles plus about half of Tgerr.'s list. One of the best I ever played was a home-brewed game by one of our members. He called it 'Trouble- shooter' and it was a blast ! |

AD&D and The Call of Cthulhu, the latter as gamemaster. |

Cyberpunk 2020. One of my all time favorites despite is outdated view of the future in today's high tech climate. And I've GM'ed or played most if not all of TGerr's list as well. |

Pretty much just Traveller and Space 1889. |

You mean there is a RPG beyond Traveller? |
