Hey, looking for help re: uniforms of
Dutch
French
Belgium
Armies During the 1830 revolt and French invasion.

I'm thinking there may be some tucked away in some of the osprey books but Especially the Dutch uniforms I am at a loss about.

Thanks!

I believe the Russians sent troops to put the nationalists down. Unfortunately for the Czar, the troops sent were the closest: Poles, who promptly joined the revolution. No idea of their uniform though.

I have a book on the history Dutch Army which I think has a couple of paintings from this period… I'll have a check. would be happy to sell it.

The book ‘A Concise History of the Dutch Army, 1568-1940' skips over the Belgian War of Independence in 4 pages and none of the 16 full page paintings cover the period.

However, you should find quite a lot of relevant uniform plates at this link:

Try Google Images for 'Dutch Army 1830' or 'Belgian Revolution 1830' and a lot of useful images come up. They can also be a start point for other sources.

Yes, that NYPL image resource has a bunch of useful images.
Thanks!

Regarding the Poles of 1830 – I'm not sure which units you're talking about, as the Poles were involved in a war of their own against Russia, the Russo-Polish War of 1830-1831.

If the Czar sent troops to Belgium before the 'November Insurrection' broke out, then they would look like Poles of the period.

There is a book by J.F. Teupken which gives the descrption of the uniforms of 1823. When you google that name+uniforms you should ge t plenty of plates from the book

Russians in the Belgian Revolution of 1830…?
There were only Polish Volunteers but with the Belgians and a unit named 'Cossacks of the Meuse' but from Belgians

oustide Russia/Kingdom of Poland, concerning a participation against a Revolution/for Independence
there were Russians with the French and British for the Greeks in 1827-1828
but the massive intervention of the Russian Army took place rather againt the Hungarian Revolution in 1848, where others Poles fought with the insurgents
