I assumed, from the first movie, that white is for ship's troops and appropriate terrain (like Hoth), but I don't think later movies bear that out.

My own Imperials get whatever camouflage is appropriate -- and they are being used for various forces in the Traveller universe, anyway.

I take the view that if I felt like painting troops so they got lost in the terrain, I'd be doing moderns/ultramoderns, so all my SF are painted to be visible at a distance. But it's a matter of taste, and those guys look good.
