#8 Would be a great place to start, followed by #'s 6 & 10.

My choice of (Abglocentric) books (for wargaming) would be:
'The Battle of the Alma 1854' by Ian Fletcher & Natalia Ishchenko
'The Thin Red Line' by John Selby
'The Charge' by Mark Adkin
'Give Them a Volley and Charge' by Patrick Mercer

With 'Cadogan's Crimea' for the personal touch and all his wonderful drawings.

Almost all books on the Crimea are anglo-centric. You could be forgiven for thinking that Britain was the largest army involved, not the 2nd smallest.

I have yet to find a decent work that covers all the military aspects of the conflict well. Most completely ignore the Turkish army and some of the earlier works downplay the French contribution.

@ GildasFacit
"What?? The British had Allies in the Crimea?"
:)

@BillNM
Yes, i had a copy of Cadogen's Crimea when I was young. I don't know why, and I don't know where it went. Fortunately, it isn't hard to replace.

A side theater of the war was in the Caucuses that has some good opportunities for the Turkish and Russian Forces. While Kars is a key piece – other opportunities as well.

The Trans-Caucasian Campaign of the Turkish Army Under Omer Pasha: A Personal Narrative by Laurence Oliphan

Narrative of the Defence of Kars by Col Atwell Lake

The Siege of Kars, 1855, by Tim Coates

My first books from a gaming perspective that I used are the 2 small booklets by Michael Cox on Crimean War Basics
