You were asked – TMP link

Did you ever start painting an army and then not paint every figure that you'd bought/needed?

I think "failure" is quite a harsh term.

Overly ambitious / easily distracted is more like it !

Hey, I'm not done painting that army…I just took a little break, got sidetracked a little. I'll get back to it.
That's what I tell my wife.

I sell it off if I am not going to finish the figures. For me it comes down to liking many sizes of figures. I still have many armies that have never seen the table.

Failure? Nonsense! We are highly skilled practitioners in the art of delayed gratification.

This hobby is all about delayed gratification.

My Life Meter is running lower every day. I am making headway on painting the remaining armies I have, but some have been in the painting queue for way too many years. I did finish some which were in queue for 25+ years, so I am winning! I still have one nostril above water, so I am winning! That is my story, and I am sticking to it… Cheers!

I am in the same boat as you Sgt. Slag. Too many project and too many life interruptions preventing me from being more productive.

Now, let me get this straight, Bill: a gamer buys a bag of 100 castings including 8 standard bearers, but since his organization only calls for 4, he only paints up 96 figures--and is therefore a failure? I buy a bag which includes standard bearers for a troop type/regiment which never had a standard--it's happened more than once--and my unwillingness to paint up the manufacturer's delusion makes me a failure?

I really wish my other "failures" were on such a level.
