I think you are looking for the "Mark III Special". PzKpfw.III Ausf L with a 50mm KwK 39 L/60. |

Based on this: link I think the correct answer is Panzer III J (Late). Short 5cm – III J Long 5cm – III J (Late) Long 5cm (Uparmored) – III L This would be the old model: link |

OP specified "long 5cm" and a Panzer III N is a short 7.5cm. |
KarlBergman | 03 Apr 2022 7:19 p.m. PST |
14Bore The Panzer III N had the short 75. |

I think that Kuznetsov is correct. It's a PZ III J. I plan to build me armies in 6mm, and GHQ shows the "J" version as being the "long" version. Thanks for all of your replies. |

My copy of George Bradford's "Rommel's Afrika Korps" has pictures of Mark III J and Mark III L with the 50mm L/60 long gun. Most Mark III J models in Afrika seem to be armed with the shorter 50mm L/42. |

Later production run PzIIIJ's had the long 5cm. Uparmoured versions were designated IIIL. |

The first long 50s were J (with new guns), followed by L. At Gazala they were pretty much all uogunned J (and present in very small numbers). |
