Putin humiliated as 300 troops 'hitchhike home' after feeling they were 'left for dead'. A post on Twitter claims to show troops from South Ossetia – a region the Georgian government considers a part of its territory – arriving on the border of Russia. Military Tech News on YouTube: YouTube link |

Raises some what-ifs about regional stability regarding the various separatist enclave Russia has created and there is the Armenia / Azerbaijan conflict which Russia has been heavily involved in. Given the cat is away and apparently significantly declawed will the mice the play? |

Didn't anyone teach them that it's dangerous to hitchhike? They could get killed. 🙂 |

Well hopefully more will try hitching a ride to get back home… However, they will be deserters. If caught they could be shot. So yes, they could get killed … |

That is pretty astounding news. If this spreads as word gets out, it could be a major headache for Putin. Of course, sadly, the hitchhikers might get the headaches too, if Putin does have them shot for desertion, which would NOT surprise me at all. |

They'd be safer hitchhiking into Poland and asking for asylum. |

So Putin basically threw second echelon militia at Ukraine as what, cannon fodder?? Another video claims to be forcibly conscripted Russians from the Ukraine border who were scooped up, given old weapons and thrown into battle. |

Not surprising. Classic Russian/Soviet tactics. This was expected by some during the Cold War too, if WWIII ever kicked off. |

I tend to think these self actuated enlistment adapters will be OK. There's no way 300 guys could cross the Russian Federation without being noticed by the "authorities." Gotta figure somebody up the chain signaled down, "who cares." |

The guys leaving from Chernobyl have an advantage traveling at night – They glow in the dark. |

Wait, conscript troops aren't that great? |
| Cuprum2 | 03 Apr 2022 11:47 p.m. PST |
These were not conscripts. They were soldiers recruited under contract from local residents – Ossetians. Maybe they weren't even Russian citizens, but I don't know that for sure. |

Ok I stand corrected. It still says something when troops will just walk away. Maybe their contract was up? |

It still says something when troops will just walk away. Apparently the Russian army sent them into action without adequate equipment or training. |
