Hi Mark.

How about this one?

The mats are very nice and the make many styles. The company is really good to do business with. I own several of their mats.

Dont think DIY project is for me but thanks for the suggestion.

Thinking the Battlefield In A Box sets may be useful but wondering about scale. Think the Micro Machine Tusken raiders will look good on the hills though.

Will check out the Cigar Box mats, thanks Matthew. Any other suggestions for terrain or mats is welcome.

Do you need a hex pattern?

If not, or if you're willing to apply your own (I used pencil marks on mine, so it is very light and barely visible), you can just use any color of fabric you like for your desert needs, e.g. sand colored, more yellow or orange, etc.?

Inexpensive, and very effective.

Add some loose, lightly scatters Woodland Scenics foliage bits to break up the smooth look, if desire. No need to glue that down, since it can just move as/when needed or desired – assume they're just little tumbleweeds when they move.

Small bits of gravel or kitty litter can also be used too, if desired, as above, to break up the very smooth look.

Vacuum or brush up and recycle after the game.

Andy,

Future Race rules from Jodie Press, may try Spin Out by Trevor Raymond.

Like your idea Rubashov.
