Together with a British Second-rate and now Elizabethan style galleons available for pre-order, Warlord are continuing to expand their Black Seas range of model ships, and I have put together the other new pre-order offering, the small third-rate which makes a welcome addition to those of us interested in squadron and fleet line ups of naval powers like Britain and Spain and the smaller navies.

To illustrate the look of these new models I have fitted out my new additions in the trim of the British, Spanish and Dutch fleets.

Brilliant! I'm looking forward to seeing your models of the 98 and sloop/corvette.

It's amazing how consistent your quality is! I stat a figure, and it's trial and error at first. Then I get, perhaps 3-6 that are great. Then the quality gradually slips down as I start taking more and more shortcuts.
Then: black primer, drybrush, done!

Hi Chaps,
Thanks very much for your comments, they really are very much appreciated.

d88m1940 – I guess we all have our own habitual formula for doing models, and I find the more I do of any give subject the quicker the process becomes unconscious in the effort required, especially when it comes to rigging.

What I am keen to do is to encourage others to have a go and develop their own process and methods and hope the blog and these posts inspire that pursuit.

Cheers
JJ

Your ships look awesome as always. Inspirational.

The galleons on WLG website look good too, but I am pretty sure galleons did not reef sails, but rather used lifts and clue lines. Not a show-stopper though.

I see the models are resin and metal, not plastic.
