I have built a site to capture all of the OHSW content I can find on the web as well as my scenarios and house rules. Let me know if you have any suggestion of more links to post, thanks! link Bonus points if you can precisely identify the radio pictured on the site… |

Looks like a tropo system. AN/TRC-170? |

Oh My Freaking God. How do you know? Yes, it is an AN/TRC-170 V3 to be precise. I was in Tropo units my entire army career until I got back into the Guard in 2008 and became an instructor for 25B's. I can still remember how to do a gain equalization on a Tropo modem and I have a klystron tuning tool in my painting desk… good times. The picture is out on the internet, it is from Roving Sands '95, I was a team chief and but this is my buddy's team. |

lol. I worked with some tropo units while I was in. Had some opportunity to get inside while we were troubleshooting a shot on an exercise. |

Nice. Now that I am turning 50, I am questioning the wisdom of all the hours I spent on the order wire with my spine up against the klystron. 90% of getting the shot in was carefully aligning your QRA on the azimuth (I aimed along the edge) and doing a careful gain equalization on your Tropo modem every single time. Kids these days have it easy with their satellites and internetz… Ok enough Signal Corps boring war stories… Everyone should go play One Hour skirmish Wargames! |
