Just saw a story that Russian guided bombs are experiencing a failure rate up to 60%. Reminiscent of USN torpedoes in 1942. Had pics of unexploded missiles being reclaimed by Ukrainians.

Since both sides are using the same bombs, with the same detonators, isn't this a common problem?

Could it be an issue of maintenance?

Might also be an issue of Russia using all the good stuff in Syria.

One of the most significant results of this war, at least so far, is that we've all learned that despite the spending and manpower Russia is not a great military power any more. Their navy and space program offer similar evidence of decline. Russia still has a permanent seat on the Security Council, and we have to treat them like a nuclear power even though it's dubious that they could launch an effective strike, but beyond that they are looking like a has-been. And the more renewable energy they build in Europe the less Russia's natural resource will matter. Hmmm.

This is a real mess. The ripples are going to define the next ten years.

The United States assesses that Russia is suffering failure rates as high as 60% for some of the precision-guided missiles it is using to attack Ukraine, three U.S. officials with knowledge of the intelligence told Reuters…

It is a shame this is being openly reported, since the Russians may then take corrective actions to address that.

Much better to keep some things secret until well after the war is over.

+1 Thresher01! Its reminiscent of the Falklands war, where our media told the Argentinians they were dropping their bombs too low to arm properly, as well as where we were going to attack next etc, etc!
