I know the Broms and I, sure many other TMPers live in and around New Orleans. I pray for their safety in the face of this devastating tornado.

New Orleans seems to be Mother Nature's target much too often. My sympathies to everyone there.

Sadly, allowing destruction of the net of offshore island, flood absorbing wetlands, and other geological and geographic features has exposed New Orleans to vastly more severe damage from storms and flooding.

Keeping fingers crossed for everyone in the region!

(At least it's not Houston, which has essentially been engineered over the decades to be as vulnerable to floods as possible. Allowing people to build expensive homes in *the actual basins for catching flood waters* implies a certain lack of common sense.)
