The aerial intimidation of various European countries by Russia continues.

I only heard this once in the news yesterday, and then nothing after that today, but apparently a Russian jet intruded into Polish airspace, no doubt to send a message to the Poles about supplying Ukraine with weapons and ammunition, but also about the possibility of sending of peacekeepers into Ukraine:

Also, at the beginning of March, Russian aircraft – 2 x Su-27s and 2 x Su-24s intruded into Swedish airspace near Gotland Island, right after Sweden announced it would be providing 5,000 RPGs to Ukraine to fight the Russians there:

As a reminder, in the past Putin has threatened to irradiate Sweden as well, with his nuclear weapons too, and numerous incursions by his Sukhoi fighters escorting his nuclear capable heavy bombers have occurred in the past, and they've switched off their transponders when doing so, in order to making tracking them more difficult.

No surprise Sweden is now looking into joining Nato.

Given Soviet/Russian navigational equipment and the general level of military competence shown by the Russian, I'd leap to the conclusion that the pilot who flew across the Polish border got lost.

Plus, a single Sukhoi ain't intimidating nobody.

Plus, "Hey, look! I didn't die horribly as a PAC-4 flew through my brain pan!" is just a demonstration that someone let you live, not that you're scary.

It does send a message, and I don't generally believe in coincidences, especially of this kind.

The timing and incursions into Swedish air space certainly were not.

My guess is the single Sukhoi was sent as a "sacrificial lamb" to test Poland's and NATO's reaction times.

If correct ups the intimidation (to the point of utter stupidity IMO)

Yes a few russian aircraft intruded into Swedish airspace. Swedish fighters intercepted them and the russians turned back.

Then a tv channel claimed they carried nukes…

The general reception and reaction to this has, in the general public, been. "Yeah whatever, where is my latte…"

Noone has really cared yet.

So if they wanted to intimidade they need to do a better job…
