The Achilles is the British version of the US M10 tank destroyer mounting the 17 pounder AT gun. This kit is 1/72 from Armourfast with a scratch built interior for the turret, a crew from AB Figures and stowage from the Value Gear resin set. Like most Armourfast kits what you get is fairly basic, but it doesn't take much to make it into a decent model.

The Archer also mounts a 17 pounder AT gun but does so on the Valentine chassis and with the gun facing towards the rear, a slightly unusual configuration. This model is from Early War Miniatures 20mm range and comes in resin and metal. Once again a crew has been added from AB.

Nice job on the Armorfast Achilles. They can look a bit plain out of the box.

Nice work – agree the Armourfast kits are a bit sparse on detail but with a few things out of the kit box that fixes that – great work on the crew as well!

Clever to show the crews as RA and not black beret RAC. Attention to detail appeals to me. Mind you, I think the gent with the 30 calibre, top picture, was meant to be wearing a Tam-O'Shanter.

I love the face work and the photography. I must learn to keep it simple….keep it simple. The models are not lost in the "Oh So Clever" backgrounds.

These are "decent models" as you put it. Oh yes.

While the decals on the Achilles are supposedly 1/72 they look too big and that's even more pronounced in the pictures. It's started to bug me, so while making camouflage netting for another project I made some additions to the Achilles to hide those decals. Happy with the result.
