I want to start Cold War Micro armor. I cant find all of my kit in the same scale. Is this difference noticeable on the table?

Thanks,

Gary

Not in my experience as long as they are different vehicles.

Really depends on the level of 'purity' you desire

Nope – like Saber6 said

I can't tell the difference when standing at the table.

I can tell the difference, but usually I don't care. grin

I mainly use GHQ but happily use H&R when I cannot get what I want.

You can easily see the difference between the two. Whether it bothers you or not is a personal opinion. It bugged me so I stuck with 1/285.

I think you'll also notice differences in level of detail (or, some may say, over-detail) between manufacturers. Some models are also very delicate due to thin gun barrels, machineguns, or struts. There's no right or wrong here, just your personal tastes.

In short, yes you notice the difference. It is less noticeable if you don't mix the same vehicle types in different scales. The vast bulk of my stuff is 1/300th, with some 1/285th.

As others have said, it is generally a visible difference, but not hideous. If using vehicles from a manufacturer that no one else produces, the point is kind of moot because there is no on-table competitor for that vehicle. But if you mix T-72s or Bradleys in the same unit from two or three makers, those differences can be unsightly. Mine are mostly GHQ, but with plenty of H&R which I've used mostly for support vehicles or soft-skins, and a few C&C, which over the years produced items no one else did in a few instances. I also use non-GHQ helicopters and aircraft, because I find the GHQ ones just too expensive. Happy gaming!!

Most of my vehicles are GHQ with a few from C-in-C that GHQ does not make. Infantry are Heroics and Ros due to a better mix of weapons and poses. Helicopters and aircraft are !:600 from Shapeways due to lower cost compared to GHQ and other 1:285/1:300 manfacturers items.

Thanks for the input!

Infantry, artillery and many trucks and jeeps seem to freely mix. Armored fighting vehicles are more problematical.

Just about all my stuff is 1/285th GHQ with a few 2D6 which are listed as 1/285th even though they are from the UK. The detail on both manufacturers is excellent and I have lots of GHQ so will stick mostly with that.

There can be some slight differences between manufacturers in 1/285th in terms of proportions and some details. My advice would be to try to use the same manufacturer for units of the same vehicle type rather than mix and match.
