Posted on their web site forum by Strelets today 13 March 2022: " Dear Sirs, taking this opportunity, may we ask you to refrain from political battles on this forum. There're enough other platforms specifically devoted to the conflict, where one can exchange views. There's no chance, that conflict, that has been fermenting for previous 30 years, will be resolved here. Thanks/regards, Strelets P.S. Key Strelets staff are alive and reasonably well. People, running the factory where sprues were made left Kharkov for Vinnitsa – one by rail, another one by car. Orion/Red Box key person is also alive and well. We will keep you updated." In my personal reply to them I asked Strelets to please keep us informed as best and as often as they could. We do not have their names or numbers – family etc. – but we have been told one of their key sculptors/designers has been called up into his Ukrainian reserve unit. As many of you know I am ‘in the business' and have been for many, many years. Throughout the past few weeks and as the war in Ukraine rages I have often thought of how it would be if my life and profession had been so harshly and completely interrupted. Would I be able to provide safety and care for myself and wife? Would I be able to secure my masters, equipment and precious work space in order to perhaps continue my trade in some way whenever the bullets, bombs and missiles stop flying. Is Strelets a Russian or Ukrainian business? |

All I know is they were a Russian company that moved to Ukraine many years ago. Their first boxes of figures had Russian markings but all now have Ukrainian colors etc. I'm pretty sure their main personnel and factory ops was in the Kharkiv area, but as they state now most personnel have evacuated to the Vinnitsia area. There is a slight spelling difference but if it's the main city with that similar spelling it is located southwest of Kviv. |
