This week friends and I got reacquainted with another old friend, Maurice, the card play rules by Sam Mustafa together with a very nicely prepared collection of Seven Years War, Prussians, Austrians and Bavarians as we played a warm-up game to refamiliarize ourselves with the basic mechanics of play, prior to another larger game later this month.

Once we got into it, all the reasons to love playing Maurice came flooding back and I'm really looking forward to our next game.

What I like about 10mm … the villages!

Regarding Maurice … great rules!

Great write up. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the game at the DWG.

Sam's 18th century rules are my favorites for 18th century European wars. Models the linear warfare and limited command structure present in the period, and does it in a fun way. Unfortunately it is long out of print. Sam never maintains or republished old sets.

I have my copy, but I am one of the few in my area.

Unfortunately it is long out of print.

If you go to his website, samustafa.com, you can buy Maurice as a printed and bound book, or as a PDF which you can get bound and printed. He also sells the cards, which you'll need to play as well. Drivethrucards sell cards to his other games, although not Maurice for some reason.

Thanks for your comments chaps, we certainly enjoyed our game and are looking forward to the next one.

Loving the look of your figures, very nice

Looking goood!
Well painted on great bases. Battlefield looks excellent.
Love the windmill. Mine was broken in action last night. Not seen Ted for a while. He dropped his pint on it. I was too busy mopping up to realise at first.
Hey, ho.

I don't like Maurice though. Tried it a couple of times. DBM formations seem to be needed to get the best out of the card game.

Have fun.
