With trepidation, and in the spirit of a few yucks and tee-hee-hees, I present: "A Famous Hobby Online Community, viewed as a Collectible Card Game" link Note: verry broad satire, not meant to offend

I resemble that remark
I hear the Ol' Gasbag went for $37.50 USD on eBay last week. |
| WaltOHara | 17 Oct 2005 10:05 a.m. PST |
Huh? You thought I meant you? Tut tut, the very thought. I believe Ol' Gasbag is ultra-rare, come to think of it. What 'til you see the next booster pack! We're not done yet! |

To be fair, it was one of his theme-painting dress up nights. Only a light yank on the chain, as it were. Walt |

Actually that was me muslim phase. In the picture I'm consulting the Holy Koran in an attempt to find a colour scheme for little lead men that doesn't contravene the ban on representational art

Self Righteous Supporting Member? j/k gotta get a jab in on the Consumer and Current Affairs boards too, but I don't know of anything yet. Perhaps a card representing The Oath. Oh, and She Who Must Not Be Named. |
| Waco Joe | 17 Oct 2005 11:49 a.m. PST |
Where are the white weinies??? Maybe you shouldn't answer that. Land Cards: Current Affairs (definitely provides black mana) The Lounge (must pay money to play) 17th Century (crossposted to provide all color mana) Sports, Food, Movies, TV (Yu Goh Gi, doesn't belong in the set but everyone wants them anyway) |
| Belisarius | 17 Oct 2005 11:58 a.m. PST |
Do not forget the Lurker Drains mana from all players. |
| alien BLOODY HELL surfer | 17 Oct 2005 11:59 a.m. PST |
If we do lounge cards then we have to put in the creatures from the basement, the golf course, the karoake machine, the comfortable chairs Ol' gasbag falls asleep in etc – perhaps The Lounge is an expansion pack in itself? Are you going to have a fanboy card? |
| alien BLOODY HELL surfer | 17 Oct 2005 12:14 p.m. PST |
I say we – but I mean you – oops. (it's that Damned British Royalty trait I suffer from!) |
Murphy | 17 Oct 2005 12:14 p.m. PST |
Wow
I can't wait for the booster sets!!!! Are you gonna have a "goth chick" card? |
javelin98 | 17 Oct 2005 12:15 p.m. PST |
Some more: The Superfluous Echo — a poster who really has nothing to say on a subject, so they say something only remotely related to the thread topic, just to be seen saying something. I'm guilty of this far too often. The Punchliner — like the Superfluous Echo above, only the Punchliner's comments are always snarky, zany, sarcastic one-offs to the subject at hand. The Fanboy — how did you miss this one? Immediately mounts an all-out attack on any player who questions his favorite system/manufacturer/period. |
| WaltOHara | 17 Oct 2005 12:21 p.m. PST |
Those are *excellent*
I may have to start working on the booster pack immediately! Re: Fanboys.. I had "TMP Fanboys" mixed up with their close cousins, the board wargaming fanboys on Consimworld: link So I naturally was thinking historicals.. and there's really not the same kind of "fanboy" base for historical rulesets as there is for boardgames. However, once you start talking about fantasy, well, there's ALL kinds of fanboys there.. Void, Celtos, W40K (but I did cover him in Workshop Minion), etc. Walt |
| Frog God of Team Frog Studios | 17 Oct 2005 12:33 p.m. PST |
Don't forget a "Current Affairs" card that stops everything dead in a flame war
:D |
| Doc Perverticus | 17 Oct 2005 12:39 p.m. PST |
why not a Stifle Card? or a Bill Card? a 'Hijack the Thread' Card, and the rebuttal, 'Hijack My Thread, Will Ya??!!??' card |
| Doc Perverticus | 17 Oct 2005 12:41 p.m. PST |
I'm offering a 'Bruce Campbell is the Clark Gable of the 90's' card on eBay right now, along with my 300 DOLLAR SQUAT!!! |

. |
| tovarischdavid | 17 Oct 2005 2:59 p.m. PST |
Don't forget the legendary creature card, "ASL Rules Lawyer" or for that matter the "dice contraption" accesory card that may or may not go with it. |
| alien BLOODY HELL surfer | 17 Oct 2005 3:01 p.m. PST |
What about a special item 'FEZ' card? |
| Rattlehead | 17 Oct 2005 3:06 p.m. PST |
HEHEHHEHE! This is great! Let's see
Here's a few suggestions: Spork/Foon (similar to thread hijack) Redhead (can be played on Goth Chick to add a bonus) Pro-Painted (Confer negative modifiers on opponent's creature) Wrong Tank Syndrome (Saps opponent's mana as they bog down in nit-picking) Membership System Down For Maintenence (Cancels all card effects for one turn) Nigerian Oil Minister (One free colorless mana this turn – Costs 10 mana next turn) Hehe
This is fun!

Can you have a section that plays like the childrens card game (using playing cards) called fish? You could have it as the Phishing phase – where you try to con the other player out of part of their 'deck'. |
| Scurvy | 17 Oct 2005 3:55 p.m. PST |
wonderful stuff! Best laugh I have had in ages. |
| Javier Barriopedro aka DokZ | 17 Oct 2005 4:45 p.m. PST |
I want my card, too! Talkative thread Pirate. Pay x mana to put x token in every thread card on the table. "This topic's hot but let me tell you about that day when
" =D |
| Javier Barriopedro aka DokZ | 17 Oct 2005 4:46 p.m. PST |
And make it a common!!! I'm nothing special. =Ž |
John the OFM | 17 Oct 2005 4:52 p.m. PST |
Walt. Don't forget the "txt msgr" who couldn't spell or write grammatically to save his life. Misspell all the big words. Then you need a Grammer and Speling Facscist™ to negate that card. I wouldn't know how to write up the card. You do it, so we can split the royalties. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 17 Oct 2005 5:11 p.m. PST |
and there's really not the same kind of "fanboy" base for historical rulesets as there is for boardgames. Flames of War comes close. Don't forget those wonderful arguments over Napoleonic artillery

Send the Editor to the Dawghouse for bringing up a topic hich brings out the worst in people. Kind of like Otis, back in Mayberry. |
| Goldwyrm | 17 Oct 2005 7:03 p.m. PST |
Great job, I'm chuckling (seriously). How about: Boards closing in 2 minutes for Maintenance- All cards in play returned to deck after a full round of play. Minutia Debate- Drains mana from all with cards in play. I Need Help(Fantasy or Historical)- Collect 1 mana from all with cards in play of a similar leaning. Fantasy cards are immune from Historical I Need Help and visa versa. |
| Capt John Miller | 17 Oct 2005 7:45 p.m. PST |
How about the "Current Affairs" TM card. Owner plays the card, pays the cost of 3 mana of any color. The effects? While the card is in play, each player must pay 2 mana to avoid having two cards go to the graveyard. The card's effect lasts for five rounds by which all players can ignore the card (as well as the player!). Hey, it's late, my back is messed up and I am working on grad school stuff. Give me a break. Marc |
| GypsyComet | 17 Oct 2005 8:00 p.m. PST |

Mucho fun, Walt. The two I thought of as MIA at first have already been recommended above ("stifle" and "wrong tank syndrome"). How about "Endlessly repeating thread" (best war movie, etc.)? |
| mweaver | 17 Oct 2005 9:56 p.m. PST |
You could make "the Pledge" a red or black card. |
