If I were to post about the Maya, would I post under American Indian Wars, Ancient, Medieval, or Renaissance?

I'm guessing there ought to be a "New World"/"Meso-American"/Pre Colombian" board (a'la Classic Asian Board).

Since our knowledge of the Meso-American cultures comes as a result of European explorers, I'd say Renaissance.

Renaissance with a cross-post to the Amer-Indian board.

I would say Renaisance

If you were to post about the French, you'd presumably post in different boards depending on which period(s) of French history you're writing about, right?

So apply the same to the Maya, Classic period is Ancient or Medieval, the Spanish conquest is Renaissance, the Caste War is Nineteenth Century.

But by analogy: if I were interested in Galley warfare, I wish be thankful for that board rather than tediously browsing Ancient/Medieval/Ren!

True, but I think if you just consider the time period(s) covered by your intended post, put it in the relevant one(s). The boards are primarily based around time periods.

By comparison, if I wanted to write about Mediaeval French and there happened to be a "Europe" board, I could post it there, but Medieval would be just as useful, or moreso.

I don't think a pre-Columbian board would get enough posts to justify a separate existence.

Cheers,
John
