I know I'm getting to be somewhat like a broken record with "Obits", but never forget this hobby is about people first, and it's the people the make it happen. One great person who made it happen was Cleo Hanlon/Leibl, who passed away two days ago. Please do a mitzva, pass on the kindness and say a prayer for her. If you know Bob or live by him, check up on him.

I don't believe in letting my friends pass away without saying something, a little memory.. something. So here it is, my best memories of Cleo, brave doyen of Amazons, cookie baker, and Amish Cow-Flinger!

Walt;
Bill Molyneaux mentioned this a couple of days ago, I guess and I'm still sort of in shock.

Thanks for posting this here.

Thanks, Walt. Another friend moves on, and we are poorer for it.

I have never met Cleo or Bob, but I certainly know of them, thanks to all the folks that have written about their contributions over the years. It is a sad day indeed…

I'm so saddened to hear about Cleo's passing. I've known Cleo and Bob since the early 2000s, from NOVAG and HMGS conventions. She was a wonderful person. My condolences to Bob on his loss.

Very sad. It sounds like she was a wonderful lady.

She was indeed – and Bob is a great guy. Hope he is as
OK as he can be.

Another sad loss.

Wow shocking news. Bob and Cleo were always instantly recognizable with their Hawaiian shirts and smiles. They played in several games I ran through the years always adding a spirit of fun and laughter.

Sad to hear this, my condolences.

Oh NO,

Bob and Cleo were great for our Hobby. I loved the tin of cookies he would pass out. They both made it a point to walk around in their Hawaiian shirts and talk with people about the Hobby and their newsletter.

Very sad to hear this, my condolences.

So sad to hear this. Bob & Cleo added such an enthusiastic & much needed light-hearted element to the miniature wargaming hobby and HMGS East shows. Cleo is going to be sorely missed.

I knew Bob and Cleo well when we all lived in New York. She was, still is a great lady. After I moved to Florida I couldn't see them much because of the distance. I grew out of touch with them over the last few years(my fault). Please any one who lives near him please check on him.

Very sad. Very nice lady who brought a ray of sunshine to the cons.

Many happy memories. It struck me that the last time I saw Cleo was also the last convention I saw Otto. Their passing diminishes the hobby. Anyone who can reach Bob, do what you can for him, please.

I'll see the survivors at the Host this fall. Let's all bring a tin of cookies in Cleo's honor.

Ave atque vale.

We shall miss her.

She made great cookie chip chocolates.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal. RIP

We visited Bob the Friday after Cleo's death. By his own account, he was still pretty much in shock. It was sudden and unexpected.

A heavy heart for him.

I'm so sad to hear this…she and Bob were such regular fixtures at the cons. Seeing them walking around in their Hawaiian print shirts was as much a part of the convention as…anything! Sincerest best wishes for Bob.

Another report from friends who visited Bob this past weekend. He seems to be doing better. Still, a huge and difficult change. Please keep him in your thoughts.
