At work today we were talking about the war during the 90's. I mentioned that a French unit actually was in a bayonet attack at some bridge. I tried looking for books for the war but really didn't find any. Any help find out if there any books about the fighting also the European troops involved. |

I have never heard of anything similar. It is some fairy tale. Don't believe in everything you hear. UN forces were heavily involved in the black market and in hiding behind civilians or, in the case of the Dutch army, they abandoned civilians whom they were supposed to protect and then civilians were executed like in Srebrenica. |

Bayonet attack? The only way I can see this happening is if it was a UN unit or under UN "leadership", and as happens often with them, they don't provide bullets for the troops magazines, or permit them to have loaded magazines. This usually leads to the unarmed troops being attacked, injured, or killed for their trouble when things go pear shaped due to the silliness in war zones. If that was the case, then I can see a unit having to fix bayonets and defend themselves, if/when things escalate. |
