John Prymuszewski from the Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM) club of Texas recently played in a Bolt Action game – here is his report:
Bolt Action 1250-point battle Finland vs Germany
Scenario: No Man's Land.
This was a great fight between me and my friend Troy Lancto. Random rolled and we got the No man's Land scenario. We deployed our units as normal, then came the Preliminary Bombardment….
I went first, and my German Preliminary Bombardment was on point. 5 Finnish units took direct hits. Killed the Artillery Observer and the BT-42 outright, MG team took a casualty, so did the sniper team and the flame thrower team. The sniper and flame thrower teams tested out and fled, 1 or 2 Pins on the rest. When it came to the Finns turn, their artillery pins a bunch of my units, only taking out a half track with a direct hit.

Turn one went well except I rolled a FUBAR on one of my SS units and they ran away to the end of the table. The Finnish advanced their BA-10 to the riverside, but ran out of fuel, he did get a good shot at the flank of my Panzer IV, knocking it it out.
Turn two saw some of the reserves come in and the Finnish forces SISU squad came in from the flank and try to attack a loaded 251 from the rear, killing the halftrack and inflicting a few casualties to the soldiers inside. When it came my turn, I rolled in a reserve of Heer Grenadiers in a truck, and they quickly were deployed tying up the SISU squad.
Turn three and four was kind of back and forth. The SISU squad was whittled down to one man, but he would not break. The rest of the German troops started o work their way up to the middle of the table. The 222 Armored car made itself useful firing it's autocannon into a Continuation Rifle squad, wearing them down.
By turn five, the continuation squad was killed, and my partner called the fight.
It was good match, and it was fun to play against the Finns. Thank you, Troy Lancto, for a good Match.
