Because accessories should be color coordinated with the rest of your outfit, obviously! (It does look more link pinkish-brown on my monitor, suitable for wear with desert camouflage or khaki.)

I didn't find the subcompact on the company's website, but the other versions of the Cordova pictured there are all in traditional black:
