Hi!
I am reading Nafzigers excellent Napoleon at Dresden and would like to make a battle based on the encounters between french and Bluechers forces as described in the early chapters of the book – on page 32 the battle of the allieds against the French holding a church at Ludwigsdorf sounds ideal for a small scenario, which as a beginner in this tabletop wargaming genre i could do
however the details on the actual French OOB are not as clear as those for the Prussians. It describes there being 10 squadrons of French cavalry near Pahlen, but no indication as to what cavalry this would be – Chasseurs? Hussars? Dragoons? Lancers? would anyone have any ideas?

If i could know to whose Corpos these forces belonged i might have a better idea.

Two references-
1- Events were soon to overtake Napoleon's plans as Blücher continued to harass Macdonald's shaken and demoralised Army of the Bober after its defeat on the Katzbach.

2- The Army of Bober under Marshal Jacques MacDonald was left to guard his eastern flank.

3- A scenario that contains actual OOB. (PDF doc)

No warranty as to reliability of either sources…

Looking for Katzbach named scenarios is a good idea actually as its all around that area

And that army, I only looked at the cavalry corps, is pretty representative of the time.

Most regiments represented, solid light and a heavy division with artillery noted.

They may have been somewhat 'febble' in numbers, but dont let that stop you representing full units when you will need them.

Those of us in the game for a while, know you will play many more 'non-historical' encounters than real ones.

lol, yes i think i would just be playing historically inspired ones mostly as trying to historically correct with army size and battlefield terrain would be a great cost in time and money that i dont have
