This blog by Mad Guru, I believe he is a TMPer, has loads of pictures and I think it shows that they are quite compatible. Here is a link to Mad Guru's Maiwand Day blog entry. link |

Hey, guys. Bashytubits, thanks for linking huevans to that page on my blog! In my humble opinion Perry and Empress colonial figures can be used together on the wargaming table with no problem, as Bashy mentions above. Here's another figure comparison pic from my blog. #2 from the left is Perry and #4 from the left is Empress:
And here's a photo from the page Bashy posted the linked to, showing Perry and Empress British officer figures side-by-side:

Thanks, Mad Guru! There is a slight size difference, but the sculpting style is similar enough to make them compatible. The Perry mounted figures are more noticeably larger than Empress's. Did you also compare the ranges of Afghan tribesmen? |

Huevans011, You're very welcome, glad to be of assistance. RE: Perry sculpted Wargames Foundry Pathans from the '90s and Perry Miniatures Pathans from today, IMHO they blend in pretty well together. I'm talking about the Perry metals, not the more recent hard plastics, which I assume would be very similar but have no personal knowledge of or experience with. The Perry versions are just a bit taller and slimmer/leaner, while the old school Foundry ones are just a bit shorter and more robust/chunkier. Still, the Pathan tribesmen from Foundry's NWF range remain amongst my favorite figures of all-time. Somehow, at least for me, they have a bit more character than their more modern cousins. Even still, IMHO the newer Perry Pathans are also great figures. Here's some pics of the two ranges interspersed, with similar poses side-by-side. The newer Perrys are based on thinner washes, which makes up for some of the difference in height -- not on purpose, it just worked out that way…
In my book having both ranges available is a plethora of riches. |
