Ok I've not put a figure on my table for a few months after a solo campaign went nowhere but by looks of this topic site there are very few Empire player left out there.

I think there's actually a lot of ex-Empire players left out there.

And I wonder what the release of Empire 7 might possibly do to that ex-player base if Empire 7 is half as good as what Scott Bowden has already revealed.

There is a reason there are a lot of ex-Empire players. I did not know "7" was coming out.

What's the reason(s) 79thPA?

Richard A: I think it is due to us not having full weekends to resolve a half dozen turns. There was only one group I was in that came close to playing Empire III in 'real time' (resolving a turn in an hour or less). That took LOTS of games to get us there. Flip Side I can take Age of Eagles to a con, teach the basics and have them running the game themselves in 3 turns. Able to get 8-10 turns done in the scheduled window, with an actual result

Was supposed to be starting a medium size solo battle with E3 this month but haven't yet.

We run huge campaigns using Empire V, the current one is 1809 Danube Campaign. We have just under 10550 figures in use and we do not have any problems. Lots of people complain about Empire. Strangely alot of those people never actually played it.
One of the major isues with Napoleonics is there are so many rules and so much choice in what people want. Do you have a games room, do you have limited time, limeited space, do you only play at a club?
All of these things will help dictate what rules suit you. We should just support what people like, as everyone has opinions on rules. No one opinion is correct.

Cheers Michael

I'd play Empire if you moved into my area; more Napoleonics than I'm playing now- zero.

Funny thing, we just finished an Empire game yesterday, being the rules of choice in this neck of the woods. Russians vs. French and Bavarians in 1812. Over 1600 infantry combined, and with cavalry around 2000 figures. We invested about 6 and a half actual hours playing to a conclusion. (Major Russian victory)

It was brought up a couple conventions ago of a Empire game, possibly invitation only, still would be awesome to do that.

Froglidite02 May 2022 9:25 a.m. PST

14Bore, I still intend to present an Empire game (by invitation) at a major convention in the future. (I have not forgotten you, or the others invited). I will be in contact with Scott Bowden as to the proper plans to put this game on in the future. I will post here further bits of information once they are available.
