Over the past couple of weeks, I decided to paint some of the miniatures in my new HeroQuest game. link I've still got a lot to go, but I haven't painted anything larger than 10mm since… well, ever, really. I paint to an "arm's length" standard, but even at that I thought I did fairly well for a first time effort. More to come… |

Nice work! Normally, I will not paint up such scenery pieces as they would only see table time once, maybe twice, in my games. For a board game, where they will see use, every time the game is played, this makes it worthwhile. Thanks for sharing. Cheers! |

Nice work! I particularly like the papers on the desk. Grelber |

I will say that the bookshelves were the hardest thing to deal with, given both the recesses and the tiny nature of the books— especially the ones lying flat or edge-on— I simply couldn't get paint on the pages without getting paint on the covers, and vice versa. Eventually, I punted and just left some unpainted (except for the black primer), realizing that at game distance they wouldn't even be noticeable. Grelber, thanks for the comment on the desk papers. I used the tiniest brush I have (a detail brush from GW), and just tried for the impression of a handwritten scrawl. Again, up super close it's just a bunch of smudged lines, but at a distance I think it works. I had fun painting all of these, which usually isn't the case for me and painting. Most of the time, I'm just trying to get it over with (probably because painting 10mm armies involves a lot of repetition of what you're doing, which can be tedious). I also had fun sticking in bits like the mysterious red stain on the sarcophagus and its lid. I like giving minis a "story," if I can. |

They look so much better than bare plastic. Well done. Love the writing done by cutting the end of your finger then straight to the pages of the grimoire! (insert dastardly cackle) Unfortunately, the doorways do now stand out so a thin black wash allowed to fully dry followed by a light drybrush of pale grey will do the trick. Ignore the vines. They died and dead wood turns grey… (optional dastardly cackle) Have fun. |

Look nice ! To speed up my own painting I'm thinking of adopting the GEWMGO standard, since that's how I usually game anyway (Good Enough With My Glasses Off) |
