So Dwarves are now verboten and they are now Magical Creatures. I remember the original criticism was that Snow White might be polyamorous and getting jiggy with the Seven. Maybe from an army standpoint they should be SODS (Soldiers Of Diminutive Stature). Khazad here we come! |

Yeah, I kinda wonder. My wife says she sees the problem but she has never had an elf or dwarven army. She's not a gamer and is still trying to figure out why I play with toy soldiers.
I see a difference between the fantasy and the reality, but I don't want anyone hurt or discriminated against. Since I am 99.9% historical, its not critical for me to give up dwarven armies although I see myself as a bow-firing elf when I really get into it. |

Why not just call them Dvergr if it was good enough for the Norse should be good enough for us? Failing that surely old English and use dweorg? I mean the dictionary definition of Dwarf is (in folklore or fantasy literature) a member of a mythical race of short, stocky humanlike creatures who are generally skilled in mining and metalworking |

The word was used for the fairy tale folk before it was applied to little humans. It would be more sane to stop calling little humans dwarfs than to stop calling fairy tale dwarfs dwarfs. |
