I think this has been asked before. It may have even been me. But my memory is short so …

Do you have a miniature of "yourself" in your collection?

Something that looks like you (however you define that), even if it doesn't reflect your job, clothes, etc.

I do. I have a civilian "me" wearing khakis and a dress shirt drinking coffee. I also have a few hairy, bearded men who are painted greying the way I am. I suppose some of them represent "past me".

cavcrazy28 Jan 2022 1:58 p.m. PST

Me? No. I was at a game once, we were playing Franco-Prussian and one of the players Dick Bryant had a mounted figure of himself in a French officers uniform, a bottle of wine in one hand and a stick in the other. The stick had three pairs of panties on it, red, white, and blue. The best French flag ever!

Perris070728 Jan 2022 2:15 p.m. PST

Now that is a good story.

Not a miniature exactly, but a Late Roman banner with a poor facsimile.

I have a cyberpunk detective that I ordered that I had designed to look like me. I use him for The Department and similar. He has a trench coat and fedora that match mine and he has glasses and a full beard like I do…and a bit of a belly.

pzivh43 Supporting Member of TMP28 Jan 2022 3:00 p.m. PST

A belly. I'd be suspicious you were hiding weapons and loot there!

Zephyr128 Jan 2022 3:21 p.m. PST

I was going to sculpt one of me in a jester outfit, but never got around to it…

Jeffers28 Jan 2022 5:05 p.m. PST

I still have an Airfix cowboy that I painted wearing the trainers I had at the time (‘82-ish).

I have a whole army of me. They're called Squats--short-tempered, overweight and over-organized, with a slight firepower addiction. (OK, Dwarves too.)

But back when they were scanning heads at the conventions, I got several generals made with my head in 54mm. Note that I had one made in 28mm, but friends didn't notice the resemblance. In 54mm, they did.

rustymusket28 Jan 2022 7:44 p.m. PST

I have thought from time to time of trying to find a figure that I feel would be me, but no luck. Just as well.

Here are a few that I converted to look a bit like me

In 6mm … it's classified …

No, never considered it.

I'm lucky. My friend and colleague, Chris Ferree, has sculpted figures of me--all too authentic!--as a huge bellied Redcoat officer (one on foot and another on horseback) for "The Sword And The Flame" games, a matching Zulu Induna (complete with then red beard and glasses!), a Victorian swell with walking stick, and, not least, as a 54mm Imperial Russian General for games of "Funny Little Wars."

Mind, he did this without my asking, and always to my great delight and surprise. He's done the same for others, some of which are true works of art as vignettes.

Like I said, I'm lucky!

I have a figure painted as my great-uncle Tom who was a Mountie sergeant during the 1920s and 1930s.

Back in the days of 'Charge!,' with imagi-nations of the 7YW, the C-in-C was often the owner of the army. Brig. Peter Young was represented by the Elector figure, which was pretty accurate likeness by the time I met him. This was a standard Prussian dragoon officer with flamboyant white moustaches and outrageous tricorne feathers added with 'Milliput,' if anyone recalls it from those days. The Elector's brother, the Grand Duke Johann, was similar but also clutched a bottle of wine, IIRC. I think the Brig's opponents entered into the same spirit. To be honest, the characters on and off the table inspired me to wargame. I have never represented myself, however: if I did, it would be non-combatant medical corps.

SpuriousMilius03 Feb 2022 10:30 a.m. PST

I have figures that were myself as a Viking, pirate, Irish Fiana leader, gunfighter, bandido, & Indian warband chief. They don't look like me but I painted them with dark brown hair, a tan complexion & some green clothing item to represent my mini me. I also have generals for the English Civil War, the War between the States & my Republican Romans: the Earl of Fairemount, Travis Davis, & Spurious Milius.

I have an ECW/TYW 15 mm figure with a wine glass and servants bearing succulent viands in attendance. His white 'stache and hair are the link. A friend found a perfect 28mm WW II Highlander replica with belly, jowls and a 'stache that he painted beautifully in Black Watch plaid. I am always on the look for suitably stout figs in all my genres to which a white 'stache may be added. My replicas have faced SM's replicas across many a hard-fought tabletop.

With 15mm (or 18mm) figures, virtually any Grenadier bears a resemblance. If I had longer hair, and more of it, I could add Hussars too.
