I'm reading the Osprey "Nazi Moonbase" about a purported lunar base "Walhalla" established by the SS in 1947 & I think this could make an interesting convention game. I scratch built a Nazi Hanebu flying saucer to use for my WWWII skirmishes. Has anyone done a Moon battle already? Any suggestions for figures in retro style space suits & rules that can be used for this purpose?

Scale?

25/28mm to 35/40mm; I've got a complete set of the excellent Graven Image WWWII 35mm figures that I use at cons in a battle between SS, NKVD & SAS to secure the downed Hanebu.

And this is just a smattering. If you broaden to include figs w/o environment helmets the selection goes bonkers.

Thanks for the links; I should have thought to check out Old Glory since their catalogue is huge. I may well have some of those hiding in my metal mountain.

Fun idea! You can get some figure that could work.

1. US/Allied: Moongrunt (15mm) by Ground Zero – link

2. German: Scifi Stormtroopers (15mm) by Eureka miniatures – link

I have thought about something like this quite a bit.

You'll want to google "Lunex" and "Project Horizon". The USAF wanted to be on the moon militarily and much sooner than Apollo. Probably could not have pulled it off, but frankly Apollo was not doable and they did that. There was some concern that they'd have to fight the Ruskies, so there was actually some planning.

Great possibilities. Good luck, I look forward to the photos.

Hasn't there been a TV series on one of the streaming channels about such developments if the Russkis got to the moon first? That might have some interesting ideas. I am rather shocked that Old Glory has such figures available.

Don't forget the Secret Nazi base in Antarctica. That might give some snowy and tunnel action. By the way, haven't those tunnels been taken over the Aliens who are striving to subjugate us via implants and 5G?

If you're playing 28mm, then the Eisenkern Stormtroopers would be good:

Victory Force has some 28mm that may also work for allies:

I use to play Battlezone on pc and it's premise was the US and U.S.S.R. were fighting secretly on the moon, mars, venus etc.
Very cool game and some good scenario ideas.
