In this scenario one side has to frantically bring their technology on line. It's pity they don't understand it or comprehend it's full capabilities.

The other side might be seen as a group of savants who merely wish to explore more deeply the mysteries of past greatness.

Or perhaps not

I was skeptical when I read the post, but the blog entry won me over. This is seems like a REALLY good scenario.

Agreed! You should cross-post this to the RPG boards as well, as I think it would be a dandy game for all sorts of themes – pulp, hard sci-fi, science-fantasy, Dr Who, etc.

Glad people liked it. I'm always wary of posting it to too many boards on one site where I don't know the people to well. and it did sort of seem to fit here.
But if anybody wants to share the blog link feel free, as the scenario is out there to be played :-)

Shared to a couple of sites – Loving this scenario, as it harks back to the classic SF theme of "Fallen/lost colonies" so prevalent in the work of Leinster and Chandler among others ( Though Scalzi recently updated the concept). Would also work well in some "traveller" incarnations.

Once again, thanks for such a great scenario!

It's probably less dangerous than a 'traveller' game, and at least you don't die in character generation ;-)

But yes, I've always liked the lost colony theme, but also where Jack Vance takes the idea and shows worlds evolving without going to the trouble of being lost.

Glad you liked it and thanks for sharing
