Today I took my new playtest set of Trireme rules to our club and let my friends have a go at it!

I got a lot of good suggestions for improvements, so it was a good day – if not a fulfilling game!

Interesting looking game.

Is it Wings of Glory inspired? (My assumption based on the title.)

A good trireme game is one of those "Holy Grail" games as far as I'm concerned. Right up there with jousting.

Hi Deucey, no its very different to Wings/Sails of Glory, though the feel of the game is like Sails in some ways.
I agree about the 'Holy Grail' analogy, I only hope mine is good enough for me and my friends to enjoy at least!

I wonder about how fun play testing is sometimes.

"Ok guys, now we are going to add a rule about Greek fire and you get to be the first to playtest it"

playtesting is always a good thing to do.
if it is done right. and it is more than a good thing, it is necessary.
do you keep notes or a record or journal of the playtests, to include the dice rolls results, the circumstances, difficult situations such as traffic jams, untimely leader deaths or other freakish circumstances, unnecessary or cumbersome rules or mechanics, even to the style of gameplay?
