Very poignant photos. To read the list of consolidations both saddens and horrifies me. It seems like we have been here before; drawing down our forces until the fecal matter hits the wind machine.

Very nice find. Thanks!

Yes, the consolidation is hard to take. So many traditions… Remember the concern about changing a divisional insignia here a few weeks ago? Imagine whole units just coming to an end.

That officers' mess looked quite nice, and coffee after lunch quite comfy as well!

Many UK units IIRC, downsized. As a modern high tech military costs big bucks. Divs down to Rgts, and/or a Rgt down to a Bn …

I hope they keep at least the linage of these units. If only at Bn or even Cos strength …

From this link: 2020 Nation's MBT strengths … link

I'm sure these numbers may have changed at least little since 2020 ?

UK 227
Gr 266
Fr 406

US 6612

Ru 12420
PRC 5250
Iran 2831
NK 5895

This is just a snapshot, but the numbers are interesting, etc.

The need might come sooner than people suspect.

News tonight is that Russia is attempting to create one or more "false flag" incidents in Ukraine, and actually has some of their trained city fighters in Ukraine already.

Apparently, the are just looking for an excuse to invade, or start a conflict, and if one doesn't present itselft, they'll create one instead.

Hello,

my parents live in the Paderborn area. The UK will keep up to 250 tanks at their installations in Sennelager, a tank service unit and they rebuild an airfield close by. The Sennelager training area will get a modernisation to.
That was reported by the Paderborn local radio, "Radio Hochstift".
The british army leave their Paderborn baracks definitly, the blocks are sold, the repairing halls are brocken down.

Good to know Blaubaer … But not good for UK/NATO readiness AFAIK …

No surprise … again … "once KGB … always KGB " …

NATO might have to bring in Japanese Tank units to bolster its MBT numbers. They have over 1000 … Even if Japan is not in NATO. It can become a new "coalition.

NATO + the Japanese Army[don't think they called a SDF anymore?] …

Hell, the Vietnamese even have over 2000 MBTs !
