Inspired by the recent NAM exhibition I finally got to work on 40 cuirassiers (4th Regt) using Art Miniaturen figures. I therefore ended up with three eagle bearers, but two ended up carrying swords and, obvioulsy, even the one left has no place at Waterloo.

You would have to see the model so far to realise just how many figures are needed, but the next task is the attack on the squares, so this is a start at least.

It made a nice change from Prussian cavalry!

Beautiful! French cuirassiers are my favourite Napoleonic line cavalry and you have done a great job

Magnificent. That white edging around the necks, arms and waists must have taken ages but well worth it

Absolutely stunning.

Thanks all for the kind words. Much appreciated. The AM figures are very well cast, although I did have some issues with the trumpeters. There is a nice variety of poses, but current marketing means you do get a remarkable proportion of occifers and even eagle bearers (one in every twelve figures has this burden).

I suspect they were intended to complement plastic figures e.g. the superb Zvezda range, rather than seen en masse, and the former is how they will eventually be seen at NAM.

20mm I am getting used to now, but decades of 28mm did convince me how much easier is such detail as white laced edging. But then the model is to be the size of a tennis court as it is. I showed my larger figures before (Perry metals 28mm), but now they languish in the attic in countless plastic stacking boxes.

Marvellous work.

There is a real ‘presence' to these superbly painted figures which vividly evokes the shock effect of them when deployed.

An excellent addition to the project .

Best wishes,

Chris

the miniatures look very nice and life like, there I did paint quite a few 1 / 72 scale miniatures I can sympathize with Deadheads thoughts of painting them.

Much appreciated folks. It is great to have such feedback. James tells me that he has some spare AM cuirassiers (and he does need thousands) in the post to me. So you may see even more in time.

I am taking a short break to try to empty one corner of the attic. So I have shown an M3A3 of the 2eme DB and started today on an M4/75 of the same gents. (seems they may have only had one single example, but, if you are obsessional, that will do). Never mind the two half tracks, the Somua from Tunisia and the dodge weapons carrier (or the five 1/35 boxes of scout cars for Leclerc's lads)

Late to the party – and what a party it is. Exceptional painting and photography. Everywhere you look there is more detail.
For me it is the horses and horse furniture, particularly the bridles that are so well done.
How long did they take you to do?

Great question, ask her indoors.

"We never go out any more.

If we do we have to wear a mask.

You spend all your time on Free French tanks or figures from Waterloo. The attic is filled with 28mm Napoleonic figures but you have never chucked one single die (the singular of dice) in anger for 1815 since we met"

We just made 30 years married so something must be working right.

God bless her, she is an incredible partner. I know so much about icing cakes now and the skill is so transferable…seriously

Deadhead I can see you opening a boutique business in Waterloo Wedding cakes. A moment where hobby meets domestic bliss?

30 years is a wonderful thing. Might even survive bracket creep from the attic?
