A lovely looking table. Aughrim is an interesting battlefield to visit and has a small visitor centre – which may re-open when the Irish Government is finally convinced that not a single Covid particle remains on Planet Earth?

On several visits over several years, I have yet to see it open. I think when they see a visitor pulling up they turn the sign around to say closed!

I think it must be a mistranslation from Gaelic – not really a centre for visitors at all?

You jest but.. TRUE STORY
I was looking for Kilcommodan church ruin in a field.
farmer says – are you lost?
No, I'm look for a church – Kilcommodan
Farmer; Its not here, You a Scottish fella?
Yes, the map says its here. Have you lived here long?
Farmer (with slightly raise eyebrow) – yes. All my life. What did you say it was called?
Me: KilcoMMODAN (accent where a Scot would put it)
Farmer: Show me the map. I do and point to it.
Ah, KilCOMModan – ITS RIGHT OVER THERE IN THAT FIELD.

Wow, Barry, another beautiful and well-presented battle report. As always your miniatures and terrain are inspiring!
