"Your Hobby Goals for 2022?" Topic

Have you made any hobby-related resolutions for the new year?

Finish my conspiracy-laden tome regarding the Middle Guard at Waterloo…. Or maybe just cull a lot of unfinished projects and miniatures. My eye-sight is deteriorating to the point I can't see/paint the details--next stop? 40mm.

Hoping to finish off my Star Trek project this year. Finally about to start my last box of Federation ships and move on to the Klingons and Romulans. I think I've been painting Feds for two years now.

Complete unfinished projects and reduce the lead mountain.

More DIY terrain, game mats, and tiles for D&D RPGs.

Identify a battle game system for use with Warhammer Fantasy miniatures that my potential opponents also like.

1st. Buy no unpainted lead for one year. That means no new projects. Get in a painting rhythm and complete some solid parts of projects. Go to at least two cons and still buy nothing. It will be hard but I shall remain strong!

Document what I have from figures to resources and create some sort of blog

Finish up another flag of 4 plus rubs of ansar and dervish

Sell off a few armies and resources I am not using

Enjoy myself.

Corral all my gaming under one style of rules. We'll see if SYW, Napoleonics, and Sikh Wars can retain their individual flavors.
Or will it all be vanilla pudding!

Here is hoping Age of Valor/Eagles/Tigers can make dreams come true.🧐

I've been inspired by the new rule book The Silver bayonet and have already started a project to reuse my Flintloque/Slaughterloo minis and anything I can find in my spares box as monsters/objective markers.

I have many hundreds of paiinted figures that I need to get based and on the table.

Keep painting my 20mm Moderns. And 15mm Sudan. And 15mm ACW. Sell off unwanted 28mm WW2 and other dribs and drabs. Play more games!!

Conversations with a colleague have determined that I am a collector (and sometimes a painter) of miniatures and terrain, rather than an actual wargamer. So, 2022: less collecting, more playing. Any playing will be a good start. Painting can continue, though.

My goal is to have a goal, something I've been lacking for too long!

Play more, paint more, write more.
Publish and be damned …

win one game of Marvel Crisis Protocol. Paint the MCP I have. Paint my Aliens stuff as well as LOTR. I'll probably have the same answer next year for what it's worth

Continue working on rules for micro armor. Add to my post WWII 15mm collection. Paint some buildings and more micro armor. I might even find the time to scratch build some 6mm oil derricks. Try to paint more than I buy. Doubtful about that last one.

Keep downsizing my hobby piles (books & minis). Try some solo gaming. Paint more.

I do not make "resolutions." Plan is to finally wrap the 5mm Ancients as a "keeper" army, and find new homes for yet more stuff.

Game more.

Finish organising and basing the Napoleonic French and Allies, while painting bits and bobs along the way.

Finish basing for the 6mm ACW Gettysburg armies.

Make some more serious progress with the BCW Regimental Wiki.

Sell off the figures I'm not planning to use.

Maybe actually play a game……

Complete two armies, Welsh and Norman, and get them to fight each other !!

A quick list…
1: Sell all of my 20mm Vietnam stuff.
2: Order more shelves for the display cases.
3: Add to my 15mm ACW collection.
4: Continue to game with my friends in our D&D campaign.
5: Do some weekend figure gaming.
6: Learn to Play "Fury of Dracula" so I can run an awesome October game for Halloween.
7: Finish up my Western buildings.
8: Redo the storage area.
9: Paint up a lot more of my Reaper order.
10: Get some figures and scenic stuff painted for Witchfinder General and The Chicago Way.
11: Get a couple of Pirate ships built.

It seems that I have quite a few genres to do, and the majority of them requires terrain and scenics…

Paint some figures. Keeping it simple.

I've got so much to paint and re-base. It isn't worth your time to read the list.

A few more games would be good too.

1. Finish more minis for Five Parsecs From Home
2. Complete my 15mm DAK force and 8th army force for Battlegroup
3. Sell all the hobby stuff I'm not using
4. Learn to use my new resin 3D printer
5. Actually game and go to a con

1. Continue to build my 54mm WW2 War in the Pacific.

2. Continue to add to my 40mm Spanish FIW/AWI Troops

3. Continue to have fun gaming with all my friends every month.

Release 18mm Blue Moon Darks ages, span/am wars, poncho villa range, add some more missing packs to existing ranges.

Organize and simplify more, paint as much as practical.

Paint up the hundred or so vehicles I have that need it.

Keep painting and try to outdo what I buy for the year.

+1 on playing more. Finish up my WW 1 Ottomans. Add to 15mm ACW, Start 1/600 ACW naval, add to 15mm Cold War West Germans…. I'm sure there is more!

Build, build, build…
Going to focus on building all those plastic kits and soldiers first, worry about painting later.
That and keeping the new arrivals under control :-)

Hope to get started drawing the flying pig and turtle characters for the annual air races held at Ooxee Township, situated on the planet Zamazonia. Most of the rules have been drafted.
