I bought a small book containing 20 plates published in the Maison Martinet in 1856. These plates cover guard and line troops of the French army 1856, a period "between" the campaigns of Crimea and Italy … and the shown uniforms are still showing the colorful and elegant appearance of the French army, an appearance partly lost due to the reforms of 1860ff.

Just go to link and enjoy the nice plates.

There were several editions of similar works published by "Maison Martinet" – we discussed the topic at the Forum of Napoleon Online: link
