Wargames Tonight made an AAR video using the swashbuckler skirmish home-brew rules we are playtesting and developing. It came out pretty well and invite you to take a look.

The scenario is semi-historical and set in the Fronde.

I lack the patience to watch a wargame on you tube. I am unwilling to commit to watching something for 30-60 minutes. I bemoan the fact that a lot more links to videos are popping up here on TMP.

That said, I opened this link and saw it was a nine-minute video and gave it a try.

First, the video was well edited, with the boring stuff pretty much cut out. Maybe ten minutes is the limit of my attention span, but they seemed to do a good job of showing what the game was about, the things it incorporated, and the way it worked in that time. I liked that they had organized before the game and showed it in the video: the potted plants could be thrown off the balcony, the cart could be pushed around, the flags could be used to climb up to the balcony. I liked the concept of panache.

The concept of the gaming board as a theatre set was interesting and new, at least to me. It certainly worked in this scenario, though I think I'd like to see it in a couple more scenarios.

The game reminded me of the 1973 version of The Three Musketeers. It had a lot of the atmosphere of The Three Musketeers or Cyrano de Bergerac.

Will I buy the rules when they come out, and a couple boxes of characters to play the game with? Maybe. At the very least, I'll be watching for more reports as they go about their play testing.

Great feedback and thanks for watching!

We have a plan for a multi-part AAR, 'mini-campaign' that will work like a feature length movie. Each game will act as an action scene in the movie and there will be 'cut scenes' in between.

Thanks again for watching and your positive feedback.

Loved that, as a HUGE three Musketeers fan I would be interested helping in play testing or giving the game a go when you release it.

Well done Drummer.
