We are experiencing our biggest snow storm in something like 50 years. We got about 3 feet last couple of days – and I am only at 3000' elevation.

Must be time to invade Russia

Come the spring thaw that should help fill up the depleted reservoirs.

Yep. Save the water to put out the fires.

A fair amount of rain in Ohio, but no snow here. It doesn't seem like Christmas.

I've just walked home from the shops in my shirtsleeves here in London. Very mild for the time of year…!

Boxing Day snowstorm dropped half a foot on the Puget Sound region. Usually snow comes and goes pretty quickly because the snow turns into rain. Snow stays a day and is gone pretty quickly. Not this week. Persistent cold followed by more snow means the Seattle Tacoma area remains pretty icy. Chief east west route over the mountain is closed for 80 miles. Just reporting, not complaining. It's weird. The bookend to last summer's heat dome.

Is the term "North" California used frequently? I've heard Northern California many times, but cannot recall heaving heard North California previously.

I was just saving space.
Usually it is northern
Sometimes NorCal

You don't have to go as far as Ecuador to enjoy good weather. I'm in Oklahoma and we have been enjoying about 70F temperature for about a week. But come Saturday, we are supposed to get a cold blast.

We used to get that kind of weather in Ohio. As 79thPA posted. OK with me …

-1F right now here. You guys should come on up for some REAL winter.

Last I heard, Hwy. 80 was closed for about 3 days.

Don't know if it is open now, but suspect so. Supposedly, Hwy. 50 was open.

70 – 120 mile winds up on top of the hill, so serious whiteout conditions with so much snow.

It is the beginning of the new ice age from global warming :( We have about 2 inches of snow here in Michigan.

Thresher0103 Jan 2022 5:17 p.m. PST

Even D.C. is shut down over this.

The New Ice Age is here.

More rain and snow locally predicted, over the next week, so very wet for a "drought year" which IS a good thing, though I suspect those in charge will still try to increase water rates again anyway, just because……

Thresher01,
I fear the spring thaw will be warmer than usual and the runoff will flood and cause river overflows and landslides in the areas that have been burned out. It's the typical drought, snow, rain and flood cycle that California has endured for centuries. Remember, Sacramento Old Town is on stilts and the capital was moved to Benecia for a few years because of the flooding back in the 1850's. Hopefully the 100+ year old dikes and levees hold. I'm glad I left but we had our first tornado watch on Saturday night but all is well.
