It is possible that in the relevant Goblin language, the same word can apply to each gender, with perhaps different endings. E.g., Spanish rei and reina, Latin rex and regina, Finnish kuningas and kuningatar (both borrowed from the Swedish word for king), German könig and königin. Anyway, I'm sure the Goblins adore and revere their king female. |

So, I was expecting a genderbend cosplay* of Jareth**. I like the mask as royal regalia. Perhaps that is the goblin part … by claiming the mask, you become the king of the goblins. That said, the feathers are not a gobliny vibe for me, but I am more of a "traditionalist" with classic D&D gobbos … more bats and frogs than birds. inlgames.com/gobby.htm inlgames.com/gobbat.htm If we go with the "claim the crown" motif (magic or symbolic), I could see the feathers coming from whatever her original background was. There … all tidied up! * If you're not familiar, genderbend cosplay is not about sexuality. It is about creating a reinterpretation of a known character in the opposite gender. ** Jareth the Goblin King from the Labyrinth movie. |

Nice analysis by Etotheipi, and I agree with Dr. Hobby's observation. It's good to be king, of course: you can send your goblins out to raid for potatoes and gravy whenever you like. |
