I have read a fair amount about the Winged Hussars and have never come across that bit of information. Would look neat though.

Some are shown painted this way in the Stockholm Scroll, but not many.

I read that too. Many a year ago.

However recently I read that it was only the officers, I'll see if I can track down where it was…

The ones depicted on the scroll are said to be officers. I imagine they were painted for the occasion, a royal wedding.

On Szymon Boguszowicz's painting of battle of Kłuszyn (Klushino) of 1610 there are few hussars with painted horses. Problem is that considering how difficult this campaign was, it seems rather unlikely that soldiers would be bother to pain horses for the battle, especially as Żółkiewski forced march his cavalry to the battle:

So while in theory it could happen for the battle, especially against Turks and Muscovites, it would be rather something from early 17th century, not post-1637.

Green and white was mentioned as well.

I can't track down the source, but I'm guessing that it was Gush, or an Osprey, since that's all I had when I painted mine back in the 90's.

Yep – I have a unit of 12 Redoubt hussars with green and white horses, so it must be true.

Green in indeed mentioned in Brzezinski's Osprey about Polish armies, although I can't recollect any primary source that mentioned this combination.
